About the museum
The Certosa di Trisulti was founded in 1204 at the wish of Pope Innocent III. In 1208 Carthusian monks settled there; in 1947 they were replaced by Cistercians. The complex is today a national monument.
The visit route includes the church, which houses significant works of art, and the old pharmacy or spezieria of the 17th century. The complex also houses the Biblioteca statale, which holds around twenty-five thousand volumes.
Since 3 June 2025, admission to the Certosa has been charged. Guided tours, included in the ticket, are organised in cooperation with LAZIOcrea as part of an agreement with the Lazio Region; on public holidays Mass is celebrated at 11:00.
