About the museum
The Cittadella Mediterranea della Scienza in Bari is a permanent facility set up to stimulate citizens’ interest in science and technology and to spread technical and scientific culture, from the mathematical, physical and natural sciences to the technologies that derive from them. It is a limited liability consortium company between the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” and the Comunità delle Università Mediterranee.
It is conceived as an interactive museum where visitors can experience physical phenomena and scientific processes first-hand, with more than forty interactive routes. These include routes devoted to water and salt (“Dal mare al sale”, From the sea to salt), probability, radio astronomy, telecommunications and the science of sound.
The Cittadella also organises exhibitions, conferences, training courses and activities with schools and groups, and works with national and international scientific bodies and institutions; for the 2026–2027 school year it offers a renewed educational programme with new interactive routes.
