About the museum
The Ecomuseo della Collina e del Vino is in the village of Castello di Serravalle, on the border between the provinces of Bologna and Modena, and is one of the museums of the Fondazione Rocca dei Bentivoglio, which runs the museums of Valsamoggia. Unlike a traditional museum, an ecomuseum involves the whole territory with its environmental, historical and cultural heritage, and aims to enhance it and pass it on to the community.
The hill landscape of Castello di Serravalle, where natural features, traces of a centuries-old relationship between people and the land, and architectural landmarks come together, is considered the ideal setting for this form of museum. The seat is in the Casa del Capitano, in Via della Rocca.
The route is organised into nine “systems”, which represent the different links between the community and the territory, and into thematic itineraries that take them out onto the landscape. The village, built on a circular hill above the valley of the Ghiaie di Serravalle stream, can be visited in about 45 minutes with the help of information panels.
