About the museum
Il Piccolo Museo began as a virtual online museum, created by Fulvio Madotto when he still lived in Como. In 2005 it found a physical home in Trieste, in an 1830 building in Via dei Fabbri, where it occupies a period apartment. It is a private collection and an educational project aimed above all at young people, convinced that remembering the past is essential for building the future.
The collection includes everyday objects from homes, offices, schools, the navy and churches, from the late 19th century to the early 20th century and beyond. The objects are catalogued, restored and displayed, and cover about two hundred years. The history of Trieste is told through the daily life of the Cordon-Bonetti family, whose members were inventors, patriots, artists, engineers, builders and graphic designers.
The museum is visited by appointment, accompanied by the founder Fulvio Madotto or by Roberto Viscovich; admission is free.
