Documentary exhibition at the Spazio Forum on Marinetti's path, from his literary debut to Futurism, with posters, publications and archive materials on the avant-gardes in Trieste and Venezia Giulia.
On the 150th anniversary of his birth, the exhibition explores Marinetti's ties with Trieste and the city's Futurist artistic and literary scene, through documents from Trieste collections.
Panel exhibition in the courtyard of Palazzo Biserini on Thomas Mann's political evolution, from monarchist to supporter of democracy, centred on his radio speeches to Germans for the BBC.
The exhibition traces the joint work of the Trieste authors Lino Carpinteri and Mariano Faraguna. Photographs, typescripts, books, theatre posters and the printing plates of the satirical newspaper “La Cittadella” are on display.
About the museum
LETS is the literature museum of Trieste, housed in the Biblioteca civica Attilio Hortis in Piazza Hortis. It brings together in a single route the literary museums dedicated to the city's writers: the Museo Sveviano (Italo Svevo, pen name of Ettore Schmitz), the Museo Joyce and the Museo Saba. The Museo Sveviano and the Museo Joyce, previously in the same library in via della Madonna del Mare, were moved to the new location, which opened between late 2023 and 2024.
The route also includes the Edicola della Storia, a newsstand with a chronological and thematic account of Trieste's history, the Libreria degli Scrittori and the Cinematografo delle Storie. The museum presents itself as a space to read, listen to and look at, with multimedia tools alongside the objects.
The Svevo section holds photographs from the family album, the writer's bookcase with the monogram ES, his violin, the golden pen, and a study room with autograph manuscripts, documents of the Schmitz family and a specialist library. Svevo's personal library was almost destroyed in the bombing of 1945; around seventy volumes bearing his signature were later found in the bequest of his son-in-law Antonio Fonda Savio.
