About the museum
La Misericordia – Patrimonio e testimonianze is a private museum display of the Misericordia Brotherhood of Buonconvento. The route occupies rooms adjoining the Oratory and was opened on 14 September 2002.
The display came about from the structural and functional restoration of the brotherhood’s premises, strongly backed by the then governor Enzo Barontini. The project was financed entirely by the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena, under the supervision of the Soprintendenza per il patrimonio storico, artistico e demoetnoantropologico di Siena e Grosseto, and was curated by Anna Maria Guiducci, with support from the provincial administration of Siena.
The Oratory of the Misericordia Brotherhood is listed by Sienese tourist portals among the places to visit in Buonconvento, alongside the Museo d’Arte Sacra della Val d’Arbia and the Museo della Mezzadria Senese.
