About the museum
The museum was founded to promote Sicilian textile arts. The permanent exhibition was inaugurated by Professor Lucia Mangiafico, a passionate collector of lace and embroidery, whose many years of research gave rise to the collection.
The wall cabinets hold laces and hand-embroidered pieces that document the artistic development of the field from the second half of the 19th century to the full 20th century. The pieces come from various parts of Sicily and from other Italian regions.
The museum is located at Via Machiavelli 11, at Mani d’Oro, an association and embroidery school in Solarino, where lessons can be attended.
