About the museum
The Museo Alessi is housed in the premises of the Alessi company at Crusinallo, a hamlet of Omegna. It was conceived in 1998 by the architect and designer Alessandro Mendini and is curated by Francesca Appiani. It is one of the founding members of Museimpresa, the Italian association of corporate museums and archives.
The collection holds more than 25,000 objects: prototypes, discontinued products, moulds, designers' installations, graphic documentation, photographs, books, catalogues and magazines. It documents the company's cultural identity and the applied arts and design of the 20th century and the new century, showing how everyday objects can be reinterpreted by different creative sensibilities.
The museum carries out research, publishes, gives academic lectures and lends works for exhibitions; since 2016 it has offered “Lectures inside the archive”, educational meetings for university students.
