About the museum
The museum is housed in the medieval church of Santa Maria di Lugo, in Campagna Lupia, inland from the Venice lagoon. The rooms display material from excavations carried out between 1990 and 1993 at the Lova sanctuary.
The excavations uncovered an architectural complex used as a place of worship, probably linked to a branch of the river Medoacus and dating from the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD. The route presents a substantial group of votive bronzes, mainly figures of nude male worshippers, coins, four gold rings, pottery fragments and parts of the sanctuary's architectural terracotta decoration. One of the rings bears a white glass cameo showing an eagle attacked by a serpent.
