About the museum

The Musei Bersano present the rural culture of Piedmont and the world of wine. The Museo delle Contadinerie was designed in 1950 and built in 1961; Arturo Bersano expanded it throughout his life. It is one of the largest Italian museums of its kind and holds unique pieces, such as the large 17th-century screw presses with descending screw. Because of the rarity of the evidence it collects, it was included in the UNESCO list of protected properties as part of the recognition of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato as a World Heritage Site.

The Raccolta delle stampe enoiche, founded around 1970, is housed in the Liberty-style villa that was the Bersano family’s home. It brings together more than four centuries of prints, drawings, paintings, engravings and rare books on wine, from poetry to graphic advertising, from publishing to design. The museum visit is part of the “Monferrato Experience”, which also includes the enoteca (wine shop), the historic cellars and a tasting of Bersano wines.
