About the museum

The museum is housed in the birthplace of Filippo Corridoni, which was acquired and restored by the municipality of Corridonia for public use. The initiative began in 1981 with the municipal administration and was enriched by donations, including those of the Vecchi family and Secondo Laghi. Its aim is to pay tribute to the town’s son, recover his historical memory and promote the city and its territory.

The route is laid out over three floors. On the ground floor, in the reception room named “Il mito” (The Myth), it tells how his fame was born after Corridoni’s death in the Trincea delle Frasche, celebrated in Milan, Parma and elsewhere, and how Fascism made him one of its own symbols; the aim is to return him to his historical dimension.

On the first floor, in the entrance room with the symbols of the domestic hearth, family ties, his childhood and early education are commemorated. The other room is devoted to his activity as a political and trade-union agitator: his early anti-militarism, exile, the agrarian strike in Parma in 1908, his militancy in Milan, the struggles against the war in Libya and the birth of the Unione Sindacale Italiana. On the second floor is the later Corridoni, who in the summer of 1914, while in prison, embraced interventionism.
