About the museum
The Museo Città di Pomezia – Laboratorio del Novecento (MCPLab900) opened on 29 October 2019, on the 80th anniversary of the city’s inauguration, in a building from the founding period in the historic centre, the former Trattoria-Locanda Caffè. It is dedicated to the modern and contemporary period and reconstructs the history of Pomezia, which was born as the “Città Nuova” in the 1930s.
The museum was created by the Municipality of Pomezia with funding from the Lazio Region under the “Città di Fondazione” initiative; the scientific design of the displays was overseen by CE.S.A.R. – Centro Studi Architettura Razionalista. The Esposizione Storica Permanente, divided into five thematic sections, is complemented by a specialist library collection and the Laboratorio del Novecento area. The route continues outdoors, in the historic centre, with panels illustrating the most representative architecture of the new town.
