About the museum
The Museo civico della Laguna Sud “San Francesco fuori le mura” is in Chioggia, in Campo Marconi, in the former Franciscan convent of San Francesco fuori le mura, now converted into a museum. The display runs over three floors and tells the story of the city and its lagoon territory.
In the same complex, since 1997, is the Archivio storico comunale “Dino Renier”, which holds the records produced by the city administration over almost eight hundred years, from the first civic statute of 1246 to the years after the Second World War; the archive is the second most important in the Venice metropolitan area after the Archivio di Stato.
The museum is part of an integrated ticket circuit together with the Museo archeologico nazionale di Adria, the Museo nazionale di Villa Pisani and the Museo di Zoologia Adriatica Giuseppe Olivi.
