About the museum
The museum’s history begins in 1814 with the donation of a mineral collection. The collections grew during the 19th and 20th centuries, and the museum opened to the public in 1951.
Since 1983 it has been housed in the building on Via Ozanam, surrounded by a park. The museum studies the Brescian territory, enhances its own collections and the local natural heritage, and promotes knowledge of ecosystems and sustainability, working with a network of museums, parks, science centres and research institutions.
The exhibitions are suspended while a new display is prepared: the project envisages a new exhibition on the ground floor and a botanical route in the surrounding park. During the closure, activities continue and the library remains open, with access from Via Gualla; educational activities for schools take place in the spaces of Brescia Musei al Castello.
