About the museum
Giuseppe Ugonia, born in Faenza but adopted by Brisighella, was a painter and lithographer who drew many of his finest works from Brisighella and its history. His skill as an engraver brought him fame in Italy and abroad. Some of his works are held at the Uffizi and the British Museum, but he never left Brisighella, where he taught at the municipal School of Arts and Crafts.
The museum, opened in 1994 in the 19th-century Palazzo della Pretura, holds around four hundred works donated by the artist's widow, Elena, along with the archive of the artist's memoirs.
