About the museum
The ecomuseum is an ethno-anthropological route spread through the village of Buscemi, which is why it is called the “paese museo” (village museum). The official website defines it as an ecomuseum of regional interest and presents it as an inter-municipal itinerary linking Buscemi to Palazzolo Acreide.
The stops include the house of the massaro (farm steward), the palmento (winepress room), the blacksmith's workshop, the day labourer's house, the coppersmith's workshop, the carpenter's workshop and the workshop of the shoemaker and tinker (conciabrocche). In the medieval quarter, a courtyard houses the Casa del Bracciante and the Bottega del calderaio. The offer is completed by sections on the grain cycle and on the stonecutters, a space for folk art, an educational workshop on the grain cycle and the Centro di documentazione della vita popolare iblea (documentation centre on popular life in the Hyblaean area). The itinerary also includes the Santa Lucia water mill, in the territory of Palazzolo Acreide.
