About the museum
The civic museum is housed in Villa Priuli, an 18th-century building in Castello di Godego, in the Treviso area, and houses the village's antiquarium. It is part of the Rete Musei Trevigiani.
The collection originates from the research of the Gruppo Storico Archeologico di Castelfranco Veneto e Castello di Godego, founded in 1975, which has since recovered finds from the area. Much of the material comes from the Motte di Castello di Godego, a large embanked Bronze Age site.
The display cases present pottery of the final Middle Bronze Age, including bowls, vessels, storage containers and handles, as well as stone tools such as grinding stones and pestles. Other material comes from a prehistoric hillfort (castelliere) between Castello di Godego and Vallà di Riese Pio X, and there are also traces of the Roman period.
