About the museum
The museum is dedicated to the life and work of Costantino Nivola (Orani 1911 – Long Island 1988) and opened in 1995, a few years after the artist's death. It is run by the eponymous Fondazione.
The seat consists of three main bodies built along the hill that overlooks the village, near the Su Càntaru spring. The architectural design is by Peter Chermayeff and was developed by Gianfranco Crisci and Alessandro Floris.
The permanent collection, presented on a rotating basis, includes hundreds of sculptures, paintings and drawings, as well as numerous examples of the sand casts for which Nivola became known.
