About the museum
The museum opened for the Jubilee of 2000 in the wing of the convent that once served as a passage between the friars' cells. It houses liturgical objects and vestments linked to the cult of the Madonna del Piratello, the oldest Marian cult in the city of Imola.
Among the main pieces are two multicoloured 15th-century stained-glass windows, probably designed by Guiduccio da Imola; four paintings of the Evangelists attributed to the school of Guercino; ancient manuscripts, including an autograph by the blessed Geremia Lambertenghi, founder of the convent; and a collection of wooden ex-votos.
Also on display are four terracotta high reliefs by Italo Costantini (1971) and the plaster casts used to make the ceramic plaques with the image of the Madonna, bearing witness to the devotional craftsmanship linked to the sanctuary.
