About the museum
The museum, active since 1966, documents the work of the Maestri intelvesi (the artists and craftsmen of the Val d'Intelvi). It is run by the parish of Santi Nazaro e Celso in Scaria.
The collection includes nine wooden statues sculpted by Ercole Ferrata, a portrait of the sculptor attributed to Carlo Maratta, frescoes by the Tarilli from the church of Santa Maria and a painting by Carlo Innocenzo Carloni. Among the liturgical objects are two medieval processional crosses, one from the 12th century and the other about three centuries more recent. 16th-century frescoes from the church of Santa Maria and from the De Aglio house are also on display.
