About the museum
The museum is housed in a 17th-century wing (1608) of Palazzo Perlasca-Pinchetti, a 16th-century building now owned by the Spalla-Gandola family, in the centre of Cerano d'Intelvi. It was founded in 1989, building on the experience of don Nicola Cetti and of the Scuola regionale di scagliola intelvese in Ossuccio.
It holds the Spalla-Gandola collections of stuccoes and scagliolas, testimony to the celebrated artistic tradition of the Intelvi craftsmen, who were active in Italy and Europe between the 17th and 18th centuries. The museum presents itself as the only one dedicated specifically to this sector, and it collects and disseminates studies on stucco and scagliola.
The route is divided into three sections: a photographic and documentary exhibition on the works of Intelvi stuccoists and scagliola craftsmen, a teaching section with tools, pigments and stones for working scagliola, and a section with examples of scagliola and of modern stucco sculpture.
