About the museum
The museum is dedicated to Piero Gauli (Milan 1916–2012), the last exponent of the Corrente movement. Gauli began his career as a stage designer, was deported to a camp in Poland during the war and after the conflict devoted himself mainly to ceramics and interior design; in 1947 he held the first of more than 150 solo exhibitions of his career.
The artist’s father came from Verna, in the Val d’Intelvi, and the village remained one of the places to which Gauli felt most attached. The museum, in Piazza Solari in the hamlet of Ramponio Verna, holds works from 1936 to 1946; some of them were lent in 2012 for the exhibition at the Fondazione Corrente in Milan.
