About the museum
The museum was founded in 1987 on the initiative of the Pro Loco of the hamlet of Serra Pamparato and is housed in the former nursery school at Via Chiesa 39. The building still retains original features, such as some interior floors of stone slabs, many coffered ceilings and part of the roof in “lose” (thin stone slabs); its origins go back at least to the 18th century, and the house already appears in the Napoleonic cadastre of 1807.
The collection brings together tools and implements of work and daily life as they were before the arrival of the modern world. Among the most significant pieces are a perfectly preserved farm cart with its harness and a large hand loom for weaving hemp and linen. The museum also contains three reconstructed rooms: the kitchen with fireplace and wooden furniture, the bedroom with a “boat-shaped” bed (letto “a barca”) and an elementary classroom with the four original desks, exercise books, a blackboard and a refectory table.
