About the museum
The museum opened in October 2005 in the restored building of the former elementary school in the hamlet of Miroglio, in Frabosa Sottana. It tells the daily life of farmers and mountain people in the first half of the 20th century through reconstructions of domestic and work spaces, with clothing, furnishings and almost a thousand farm tools, largely donated by local residents.
In December 2012 the underground rooms devoted to the wartime period were inaugurated, with objects related to the Alpini, a carabiniere who became a partisan, and local partisans, as well as a memorial of the 1961 expedition in which speleologists from Piedmont spent 700 hours in the Grotta del Caudano. The museum is part of the offer of the Mondolè Park, and its management is entrusted, through an agreement with the Comune, to the association Miroglio e il Kyè, which also works to preserve the local dialect.
