About the museum
The museum grew out of the collecting passion of Luciano Zeetti and is housed in rooms beneath the chimney of the former Galletti brickworks, in the San Marco district of Perugia. The collection includes vintage games and toys, puppets and marionettes, fairy-tale books and comics, antique projectors and old cameras, dating from the late 18th century to the present day.
The exhibition route is organised by theme: the school of times past, popular games, work, countryside and city, science fiction, theatre and circus, and pre-cinema. Many objects are shown in large scenes on tables rather than in display cases, and staff can demonstrate how some of the games work. The most interesting pieces include the first edition of Pinocchio published in instalments, a collection of 19th-century optical instruments, working roller phonographs and a magic lantern from 1870 with more than a hundred slides.
The museum also offers themed exhibitions, workshops for children and adults, events and guided tours.
