About the museum
The Casa Museo del Sapone was founded in May 2015 to create a space dedicated to the history and science of soap. It occupies an old rural building from the early 19th century, fully restored, which also houses two presses and some objects linked to the area’s rural activities. The cultural project is connected to the production of natural soaps and cosmetics under the Saponi&Saponi brand.
The route tells the story of soap, which dates back to 2800 BC, and the role of olive-oil soap as a typical product of the Mediterranean tradition, alongside the famous soaps of Marseille, Castile and Aleppo. In the modern part of the museum, the Sala Conferenze (conference hall), temporary exhibitions are staged; workshops and tastings are also planned.
