About the museum
The museum holds the artistic and liturgical treasures of the Duomo di Santo Stefano in Caorle, one of the oldest churches on the Veneto coast, and is located in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral.
The collection occupies two rooms. In the first are the main works: directly after the entrance is the chapter cross, a silver processional cross made in 1534, with the Crucifixion on one side and Saint Stephen, patron saint of the town, on the other. On the right-hand wall are six 14th-century panels with apostles, attributed to the so-called Master of Caorle, possibly close to Paolo Veneziano, which originally formed part of the iconostasis separating the presbytery from the nave.
Other objects in the treasury include reliquaries, among them a 14th-century one of Venetian goldsmith work, and silver monstrances.
