About the museum
The Enomuseo di Ca' Rugate is a permanent exhibition on the farming and winemaking activity of the Tessari family, run by a small family business and recognised by the Veneto Region as a museum of regional interest. It was founded in 2008, after two years of restoration, and is located in Via Pergola in Montecchia di Crosara.
The collection, described as “one hundred years of history”, includes more than a hundred tools used in the twentieth century in farming and winemaking in the Soave area, which fell out of use in the 1950s. The restoration followed the same methodology applied to works of art. The themed route with multimedia content is organised into five rooms: Aia, Caneva, Bottaia, Cucina and Granaio.
Among the most significant pieces are a monumental wine press, a cask from 1890, a Vidal piston pump from the late nineteenth century and a carbonator from 1930 for making still wines sparkling, which worked only with low-alcohol wines. The granary shows two methods of drying grapes, with the bunches hung from wires (picai) or spread on racks (arele).
