About the museum

The Museo Rosso Graspa occupies the ground floor of the Castello di Levizzano, in the municipality of Castelvetro di Modena, and is reached from the inner courtyard. It is devoted to wine and rural society in the Modena area and is part of the routes of the Ecomuseo.

The display presents farm tools, tools for working wood and for winemaking, together with photographs and drawings of peasant life between the two world wars; the images are by Giuseppe Simonini.

The visit takes place in a reconstructed historic setting, accompanied by a soundscape with the noises of rural life and voices speaking the local dialect; visitors trigger sound showers as they pass by. The route suits all ages and is very popular with children: at reception visitors collect the museum guide, a guide for children and the Ecomuseo’s trail guide.
