About the museum
The Museo dell'orologio da torre (Tower Clock Museum), named after Roberto Trebino, was inaugurated in 2004 as a “museo d'impresa” (company museum), wanted by the Trebino family, the Comune of Uscio and the Province of Genoa to combine productive activity with a commitment to culture. It is housed in the old Trebino factory, the historic firm of master clockmakers and bell-makers founded in 1824 in Uscio, in the Valle del Tempo (Valley of Time) in the hinterland of the Golfo Paradiso, so called because of the ancient tradition of tower clocks and bells.
The collection comprises some thirty pieces of great historical and cultural value. They tell the story of the tower clock, from hand-made examples produced in France, Germany and Austria dating back to the 17th century, to the most advanced technology of today's radio-synchronised clocks, with mechanisms of different forms depending on the period.
The Trebino firm is today an international brand, with installations in the Vatican, at the Quirinale, throughout Italy and in many countries around the world.
