About the museum
The museum opened on 6 May 2002, in the presence of the Canadian ambassador, and documents the military events that struck Ortona in 1943. It is housed in the Complesso monumentale di Sant’Anna, the former monastic complex, now owned by the municipality, which also houses the municipal library and the Museo Marinai d’Italia.
The exhibition is arranged in three sections, with mementos, photographs and war relics, including soldiers’ uniforms and personal objects. The route focuses in particular on the experiences of the civilians caught up in the battle.
According to the portal of the Museums, Archives and Libraries of Ortona, all the facilities are temporarily closed for renovation.
