About the museum
The Museo della Cattedrale belongs to the Cathedral of San Nicolò in Noto and was set up and inaugurated together with the reopening of the cathedral, rebuilt after its collapse on 13 March 1996. It is housed in the Palazzo Landolina Sant’Alfano, with entrance from Via Montuoro 11.
The 2007 display gave particular prominence to silverware and sacred vestments. In 2021 a new display was created, with a historical, artistic and catechetical route laid out over ten rooms and devoted to works dating from the 16th to the 20th century.
The museum is directed by the rector of the cathedral, supported by historical and art consultants, and is run by the Cooperativa Etica Oqdany. It has been a member of AMEI since 2021 and carries out educational activities together with various schools.
