About the museum

The museum is named after its founder, the notary Mario Faedda, who called himself a “collector” of vintage radios. Over forty years he brought together more than two hundred sets, built from the late 1920s to the 1980s. It is owned by the Faedda family and is housed in an old mill in Via Dante in Ittiri. Since 2016 the amateur radio group Radio Club Coros has organised various activities there.

Besides the radios, including the municipal set that allowed citizens to listen to the broadcasts of the time, visitors can see the old flour mill, an old maize grinder from 1931, the transmitting station and a small workshop for repairing and testing the sets. Exhibitions of valves and old mobile phones have been added, as well as radios lent by radio amateurs.

The museum has no regular opening hours: it is open for whole days on special occasions, such as the Prendas de Ittiri in November, Christmas at the Museum in December and the Ittiri Folk Festa trophy in July, and with a special opening on 25 April, the day of Guglielmo Marconi's birth, with guided tours and amateur radio activities.
