About the museum
The Museo delle Confraternite is set up in the Sanctuary of Santa Croce al Monte Calvario in Imperia, where the Confraternita della Ss. Trinità (Confraternity of the Most Holy Trinity) has been based since the 17th century. The confraternity recently opened the museum to preserve the history of all the Ligurian confraternities.
The collection includes ceremonial robes, processional banners, relics and documents, a 14th-century stone Madonna, 18th-century altar furnishings, paintings and liturgical vestments. Handmade nativity scenes and a series of late 19th-century holy cards are also on display; a permanent section is devoted to the vestments of the confraternities of the area.
The restored wing that houses the museum has an entrance and facilities for people with disabilities.
