About the museum
The Museo Navale di Imperia is housed largely in the former Magazzini Generali of Calata Anselmi, in the fishing village of Porto Maurizio, buildings once linked to the port’s commercial activities. It belongs to the Imperia Musei network and shares the building with the planetarium.
The display is divided into four thematic routes: human work at sea in its various aspects, sport linked to the sea, travel for trade or leisure, and war above and below the surface. The presentation combines research, technology, observation and archaeology to tell the story of the local maritime tradition and of naval glories.
The museum also offers educational workshops, family activities, events and exhibitions, and has spaces that can be rented for events: an auditorium, the Sala Dolia, an exhibition space and a bistro area.
