About the museum
The museum is housed in Villa Faravelli, a building from the 1940s commissioned by the industrialist Umberto Faravelli and designed by the engineer Francesco Muratorio. The villa stands in a park of over 5,000 square metres opposite Imperia's new harbour, in the Borgo Marina district of Porto Maurizio.
In 2016 the villa became the home of the contemporary art collection of the architect Lino Invernizzi, donated to the city by his widow, Maria Teresa Danè. The core comprises around seventy works from the second half of the 20th century by Italian and international artists, including Victor Vasarely, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Josef Albers, Marino Marini, František Kupka, Lucio Fontana, Piero Dorazio and Renato Birolli.
The museum is part of the Imperia Musei circuit and offers educational workshops for schools, guided visits and a programme of events and exhibitions.
