About the museum
The museum was founded in 1981 by the historian Salvatore Boniello from Guardia Lombardi, and in 2021 it was named after him. It holds around a thousand objects and work tools typical of the local peasant civilisation, dating from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, together with numerous items of everyday use: from the plough to the first typewriter bought by the municipality.
Reconstructions of rural and municipal rooms are on display. Other themed rooms cover traditional costumes, a collection of coats of arms, women’s weaving and embroidery work, and the trades of the blacksmith, the carpenter and the doctor.
