About the museum
The Piombino entomology museum is a natural history centre that houses almost all the taxonomic orders of insects, presented in a series of educational display cases. To deepen the visit, there is a room for projecting macro slides and a room with stereo and reflecting microscopes.
Numerous explanatory panels guide visitors, while live specimens can be observed in terraria and aquaria with the help of an expert.
The same building also houses the Fotoclub “Il Rivellino”, which organises photographic exhibitions on the territory and its monuments. A bibliographic section also allows consultation of photographic material and publications on military history, landscape and the nature of the Parco, the promontory of Piombino and the Val di Cornia.
