About the museum
The Museo della Civiltà del Lavoro, in the fairground area of Venturina in the municipality of Campiglia Marittima, grew out of an ethnographic collection donated in 1992 by Giovanni Lazzerini to the Comitato Cittadino di Venturina, and was enriched over time by further donations.
The collections are housed in a pavilion of around 1,800 square metres and document work in the Val di Cornia over the last two centuries: tools of agriculture, craft and industry that show how past generations faced daily life and how technology has developed.
The exhibits include period carriages, tractors and threshing machines, a well-preserved locomotive from 1900, tools of traditional trades such as the saddler, the tinsmith, the blacksmith and the wheelwright, and the Lazzerini collection with over 1,200 objects of rural work, from hoes to harnesses for pack animals.
