About the museum
The museum of the Salzano parish commemorates the life and work of Saint Pius X, Giuseppe Sarto, who was parish priest of the town from 1867 to 1875 before becoming a canon in Treviso, bishop of Mantua, patriarch of Venice and finally pope from 1903 to 1914. The pontiff's bond with the community is the common thread of the collection, which has been open to the public since 1999.
The property belongs to the parish, while management is entrusted to the cultural association “Tempo e Memoria”, founded in the 1990s with the aim of supporting the cultural life of the community and promoting the study of local history.
The collections include sacred furnishings such as chalices, monstrances, crosses, reliquaries and wooden furniture, as well as liturgical vestments and ancient textiles, including copes, chasubles and dalmatics in velvet, damask and brocade. The route also preserves objects, documents and photographs related to Pius X and the history of the Salzano community.
