About the museum
The museum opened in 1999 in Varano Marchesi, a village in the municipality of Medesano. It includes an educational section on the history of the upper valley of the Recchio stream, from Roman times to the 19th century, with coins and materials from Roman settlements among the oldest finds.
A permanent exhibition illustrates peasant culture thanks to a collection donated by the collector Marco Pometti. The display is organised into ten display stands devoted to the tools of blacksmiths and carpenters, farm work, the kitchen, the processing of wool and hemp, and the work of the norcino (traditional pork butcher).
