About the museum

The Dallara Academy was founded in 2018 at Varano de’ Melegari, in the Motor Valley, as a dynamic space in which fifty years of company experience become a bridge between past and future. The building was designed and built by Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia and was commissioned by engineer Giampaolo Dallara as a place open to the local community and at the same time able to share the company’s expertise. In 2017, while still under construction, it received the award for best building at the ABB Leaf Awards.

The heart of the visit is the exhibition ramp, a route along a wide curved wall with a glass front that follows the entire ascent and engages with the landscape of the Val Ceno. Along the ramp are displayed the cars that marked the history of engineer Dallara and of the company: from the Miura to the X19, from the sports cars developed with Lancia to the Indycars racing in the United States, from the Le Mans prototypes to the Formula 3 and Formula 2 single-seaters, up to the Dallara Stradale.

The ramp is complemented by a guided tour of the company departments (professional simulator, aerodynamics, composites and assembly) and a driving experience on simulators. The two-storey building houses educational workshops for schools, the second year of the master’s degree in Racing Car Design at MUNER and an auditorium, also used for events.
