About the museum
The museum occupies an old water mill dating from 1750 in the centre of Fluminimaggiore, which still operates today thanks to the power of the Riu Mannu. Visitors can see how grain was milled using water-driven mechanisms.
The objects on display come partly from the old mill and from the Monte Granatico (the historic communal granary), and partly from donations by local families. The material was studied and arranged by the teacher Bruno Murtas.
The collection documents rural and pastoral life: branding irons for livestock, weighing and measuring instruments, tools for processing milk and weaving, and toys and tools of blacksmiths, shoemakers and carpenters. A horse-drawn ox cart and a calash from the late 19th century are also preserved. Some rooms recreate the kitchen and other spaces of the rural house.
