About the museum
The Museo Lavazza is located in the Nuvola Lavazza, the complex designed by Cino Zucchi between Corso Palermo and Via Ancona, which houses the company headquarters and an events space. The route tells the story of over one hundred and twenty years of the company, which began with Luigi Lavazza’s first grocery shop, and of the coffee supply chain, through sounds, images and aromas.
The visit is organised into five thematic areas: Casa Lavazza, dedicated to the family and the company’s milestones (with an area on its links to sport); La Fabbrica, on production processes from plantation to roasting; La Piazza, which celebrates the coffee ritual through icons such as the espresso, the small cup and the Carmencita coffee pot; L’Atelier; and L’Universo. Every visitor receives the Lavazza Cup at the ticket office, an interactive cup that activates the installations and lets you explore the content in more depth.
In 2014 excavations for the Nuvola uncovered the remains of an early Christian basilica from the 4th and 5th centuries AD, with an archaeological area of about 1,600 m² integrated into the architectural project, which may be the church of San Secondo martire. Guided visits with archaeologists take place here. The Archivio storico Lavazza, which can be consulted for study and research, holds documents, everyday objects and artworks and designs commissioned by the company.
