About the museum

The Museo Palazzon is housed in a characteristic 17th-century building in the heart of the village of Lusiana and bears witness to the customs and traditions of its inhabitants. It is the hub of the Museo Diffuso di Lusiana, the network of sites on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni that also includes the Villaggio Preistorico del Monte Corgnon, the Giardino alpino “Dario Broglio”, the Museo della Fauna Alpina, the Valle dei Mulini and the sites of the Great War.

The exhibition spaces stage a reconstruction of the most significant moments in the life of the grandparents. Visitors see the kitchen, organised around the hearth at the heart of family life, the cellar, the place where food was stored, and the bedroom, the intimate space where the “monega” warms the bed and the chest of drawers keeps the small amount of carefully woven and embroidered linen. A corner recalls a school of the past, when children wrote with dip pens.

Particularly important is the section on the casara (dairywoman), which recounts life in the high pastures of the municipal territory and reveals the secrets of making formaggio d'allevo. The highlight is the section on straw working, a humble craft with noble origins, from which the “fastughi” were obtained for making baskets and hats.
