About the museum
The Museo parigino a Roma was founded by Cesare Nissirio, president of the Associazione Athena Parthenos, to gather materials on Parisian culture from the late 19th to the early 20th century. It is twinned with the Montmartre museum in Paris.
The collection includes antique papers, prints, posters, photographs, books, illustrated magazines and objects. The route is organised in sections devoted to the city of Paris, theatre and performance, cinema, classical music and song, dance, literature, art and architecture, the periodical press, fashion and costume, and games and childhood.
The museum also has an antiquarian and modern library on Parisian culture of the 19th and 20th centuries, and an exhibition collection of about 3,000 photographs of figures and themes of French culture.
