About the museum
The Museo Stampatori «da Sabbio» commemorates the printers from Sabbio Chiese who, from the first decades of the 16th century, went to print books in Venice, Bergamo, Cremona, Milan and other Italian and European cities: families such as the Nicolini, Ventura, Pelizzari, Tini and Bericchia. The idea for the museum emerged in the early 2000s, following research on the printers from Sabbio and an exhibition staged in 2012 for the Feste Decennali (decennial celebrations).
In 2019 Alfredo Bonomi transferred to the municipality, with a condition of cultural use, the building on Via Parrocchiale that houses the museum. The municipality formally established the museum by a resolution of 8 January 2024, and in April of that year the museum joined the Sistema Museale della Valle Sabbia. The displays were fitted out in phases with state and regional funding.
The collection, built up through donations since 2008, includes around fifty books printed in the 16th and 17th centuries, catalogued in a publication from 2023. The museum offers educational routes for schools, workshops for families and courses for adults.
