About the museum
The museum in Sampeyre, on Via Roma, gathers in about a dozen rooms the material memory of mountain life in the Valle Varaita. The route presents tools for farm work, bread-making and wool processing, together with a reconstruction of an old schoolroom with desks and blackboards, and the workshops of a farrier and a blacksmith.
An important part of the display is devoted to traditional costumes and to the Baìo festival, the carnival performance held in Sampeyre: models with the Baìo characters are on show, as well as the authentic costumes of the four “armies”.
