About the museum

The historical room is set up on the third floor of the valley station of the Mondovì Breo funicular and is run by the Mondovì section of the Associazione Nazionale Alpini (National Alpini Association). The site was chosen because for decades Alpini on leave from the Caserma Galliano passed through here.

The exhibition traces the history of the 1st Alpini Regiment from 1882, with documents, photographs, uniforms and objects from the Mondovì, Ceva and Pieve di Teco battalions. Particular attention is given to the two world wars and to the Battle of Nowo Postojalowka in 1943 during the Russian campaign.

The museum commemorates the Alpini who fell in the wars of the 20th century and presents this historical memory above all to young people and schools.
