About the museum
The printing works in Noceto began operating on 1 April 1889, in what is now Piazza della Repubblica. The machines and equipment of the former “Grafica Nocetana” were bought by the municipality from the printer's family and installed in a large hall of the “Biagio Pelacani” cultural centre.
The distinctive feature of the collection is that it includes only machines made in Italy, an unusual choice for the time. The main pieces include a Dall'Orto press from the second half of the nineteenth century, still in working order, a treadle machine by Officine Meccaniche Monzesi, a flatbed cylinder press by Fratelli Mordini, and a Nebiolo machine with cylinder inking.
The museum also holds millions of type characters, borders and ornaments, sorted by Giancarlo Vecchi and Amos Papotti.
